Did You Know?
Tracker has several options that can provide you with additional information to help with Advertising, Collections and Sales.
- Action - This code is used in Collections to identify some final result of the collection process. If an account is still in the process of collections, it is an "Active Account". All other Action Codes would indicate some final action that removed it from the collection list. Examples of action codes are: Assigned for Repo, Bankruptcy, Repossessed, etc.
- Activity - An Activity Code is used to describe the actions taken by the collector for the collection process of an account. Enter the Code for the specific Activity you wish to enter. Some examples of activities are: Assigned for Repossession, Borrower Promised to Pay, Phoned Home Busy. Codes for these activities could be just the first letter of each word, for example: AFR, BPTP, PHB, etc. This system of coding the activities would make it easier to remember the codes.
- Category - Categories are used to classify expenses against vehicles. For example, you may have set up a category for tires which would help you keep track of all the vehicles you have replaced tires on. NOTE: If the Peachtree Interface is installed, this field will read "GL Account" and have a button that drops down the listing of all the accounts you set up to transfer information to Peachtree. Select the account to which you wish this cost posted (usually your inventory account). Examples of category are: Tires, Timing, Battery, and specific G/L account numbers.
- Group - You have the option to assign your vehicles or sales to particular groups. For example, you may want to group your vehicles by location, buyer, or seller. If this is done, you will be able to print or view inventory reports by group. Leave blank to view all accounts, or select a Group code to narrow the selection to those accounts assigned to that Group. Groups are set up using the Edit Group Code choice from the Setup menu. Examples of groups are: Car, Truck, SUV, Wholesale, and Retail.
- Lead Source - This is an Advertising tool. What brought this customer to your business? How did he or she know you had this vehicle for sale? Examples of lead source are: Newspaper, Referral, and Yellow Pages.
- Source Type - Source is used in inventory to identify the source of vehicles you purchased other than from a Vendor. If you have certain buyers at an auction, that person's name would be entered here. You would not enter the auction name here because it is placed into the "Vendor" field. Examples of source type are: Drive In or Classified Ad.
