What is Direct Print and do I need to use it? What is Direct Print? Direct Print is a setting that bypasses the Windows print driver and prints directly to the printer attached to the computer. It cannot be used to print to any printer other than the one connected to the computer, so Direct Print does not work on any network printer. Do I need to use Direct Print? The Direct Print setting in Tracker is used for one purpose--to print forms that are longer than 11 ½" on a computer that is using Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Ask yourself these two questions:
How do I setup Direct Print? Once again, the Direct Print setting in Tracker is used for one purpose - to print forms that are longer than 11½" on a computer that is using Windows 2000 or Windows XP. The settings are for that computer ONLY, so if you don't print long contracts on a particular computer, then you do not need to use Direct Print. To setup Direct Print:
Is there a disadvantage to using Direct Print? For some, the only way to print long contracts is to use Direct Print. But, if you do not need to use Direct Print, it is advisable not to use it. There are a few disadvantages:
