Windows XP/2000 and Long Forms If you are using Windows XP/2000, and most of you are, the Direct Print option in Tracker needs to be turned ON when printing forms longer than 11˝". Symptom: Tracker stops printing a form about three-quarters of the way down the page. Solution: At the bottom of the Select Form/Form Pack to Print screen, click on the Adjust button. A window will pop up and at the bottom is the Direct Print setting. Check the box and chose a printer from the available list printers.Suggestions: The name of the printer you select doesn't always have to match the printer you are using. Three common settings are: Okidata 320 (EPSON MODE); IBM ProPrinter, and Epson LQ series. How it works: Windows XP/2000 print drivers handle print jobs differently than previous versions. To print beyond the 11˝" page length, Tracker needs to bypass the Windows print driver and print directly to the printer. Keep in mind that the printer must be directly connected to the computer you are printing from. You cannot use Direct Print on a network printer, laser/ink jet printer, or a printer that uses the USB port. Tracker was designed to print forms to dot-matrix printers, specifically the Okidata Microline 320 printer. This is because most forms are 3-part pages and need to print all pages at the same time. While an inkjet or laser printer may print Tracker reports with no problems, you will get mixed results trying to print forms…in most cases, no results at all. |
