Error Code 7008


7008 Advantage Server File Open Failure - This error is quite common in the everyday uses of Tracker, and can cause headaches if it is not fully understood. "Advantage server file open failure" means that the file you are trying to access is locked open by another open window in Tracker on your computer or someone else's. When working in Tracker you will notice the many different functions of the program. Each different function requires access to a database file, and when one of these files becomes locked open, the function that you were trying to perform, will not be accomplished.

Eventually a 7008 error happens to everyone; the important thing to remember is how to fix the error. Since the error is caused by a file being locked open, 90% of the time closing Tracker down, then reopening it, will usually resolve the problem.

In the event that it continues to appear:
  • First, make sure that Tracker is closed on every computer
  • Second, restart the server (computer that stores all of the files).
  • After the server restarts, open Tracker on that computer only, and Organize Keys.
  • If the error goes away, you are ready to go back to work.
  • If the error persists, give us a call at Tech Support 800-543-8085.


Now a few steps to help prevent this error:
  • · First, make sure that every evening Tracker is closed down on all computers
  • Next make sure to save often.
  • Finally, make sure that the server is the first computer that you turn on and the last one to turn off.
