END OF THE YEAR REPORTS

It is time to prepare for year-end. There are two basic types of dealers, Buy Here Pay Here and Non Buy Here Pay Here. We will discuss the easy one first.

Reports for the Non Buy Here Pay Here dealer are fairly simple. The "Active Unfunded Sales Report" will give you your outstanding AR for the date it is pulled. DO THIS ON 12/31/2001! The "Funds Received by Finance Company" will give you all funds received for the year.

The Inventory reports are the same for both types of dealers. The "Active Vehicles by Date Report" for 12/31/2001 shows you what is on your lot currently. The "Vehicles Purchased" report allows you to see all details for the date range entered.

As for Sales, you should run the "Sales Journal," "Sales Journal Summary" and the "Salesman Journal" to choose which one provides the information you need.

The most useful AR Report for the Buy Here Pay Here Dealer would be the "AR Status Report." This report will literally sum your entire year. It is very important you pull this on or around 12/31/2001. YOU CANNOT PULL THIS REPORT IN APRIL TO GET NUMBERS FOR DECEMBER 31!

Since we cannot know what type of business entity you use, please pull a variety of reports before the end of the year, and see what they tell you. You never know what will pop up that you have been looking for.
